Jobcentrum West-Vlaanderen is a job center that wishes to integrate into society impaired and disadvantaged job-seekers in the province of West Flanders. It wishes to do so through tailored pathways of training and guidance with the aim to accomplish sustainable employment in the regular economic circuit.
The ESF project ‘A Job Floor of opportunities’ has operated within an ESF innovation call. On the one hand, Job Center aims to coach impaired job seekers in a more efficient way; on the other hand it aims to convince employers to give job opportunities to people from this disadvantaged group. Therefore, it has designed five products – the Ergo Box, the Ergo Watcher, the Wage (cost) simulation (including the Wage guide for job seekers and the wage cost simulation for employers), View on a Job and Sold! –. Thanks to this tool, coaches and mediators improve their position between employers and job seekers.

The Talents Trotter was the result of a constructive collaboration between SERR Gent en Rondom Gent and the POM Oost-Vlaanderen. The Talents Trotter constitutes a guide for competency management, which was the final result of a learning network on competency management, and has been honoured because of its innovative view on competency management. More specifically, the Talents Trotter offers accurate input for an integrated approach regarding all of the phases of the Human Resources cycle, combined with accomplishing broad support throughout the organisation and taking into account a number of pitfalls which are linked to the methodology of competency management. The Talents Trotter contains the points of improvement from a number of experiments which have been implemented in pilot organisations from the profit as well as the social profit sector, founded on the expertise from sector organisations, social partners and consultants. This way, the Talents Trotter has become a guide, which is very useful in other organisations as well.

Because of the fact that not much of practical information for companies was available on the theme of job retention and re-integration after a long period of absence from work, Prevent set up the ESF project DM@Work in 2009. The partnership has developed four practical manuals, each time one for the sectors health- and well-being care, the (petro)chemical sector and construction and one for the private sector as a whole. These manuals present in an accessible way the network of the actors concerned and the legal support measures. Apart from an overview of the specific problems and opportunities in the sectors, the manual also provides a detailed action plan holding tools and points for improvement to set up and implement a systematic job retention and re-integration policy in companies.
You can find the manual here online. Printed copies are made available but in a limited edition, they are disseminated during events organized by DM@Work.
